Women & Leadership | Canada’s 19th Prime Minister, The Right Honourable Kim Campbell speaks at the Ismaili Centre, Burnaby

Last night at the Ismaili Centre, Burnaby the Right Honourable Kim Campbell shared her thoughts on the role of Women engaging as Leaders in building civil societies. Drawing on her long and distinguished service at all levels of government in Canada in addition to her influential role in academia and global think tanks, she encouraged women to share their expertise, knowledge and wisdom in shaping the complex world we live in. Her advice resonated equally well with men as she shared global trends where more that 75% of household consumer decisions where affected by women –  the message: more opportunities for women leaders in the boardrooms to bring forth pragmatic women-inspired family-centric wisdom.

In her engaging lecture and the follow-up question and answer session, she shared some of the challenges that she had faced during her tenure as the Prime Minister of Canada, joking about also being the first female Prime Minister of Canada with the shortest term. Speaking of firsts, it is true that Ms. Campbell remains one of the youngest women to have ever assumed the office of Prime Minister in any country. As it stands, Canadians have benefited tremendously from her passion to make Canadian society stronger with her relentless drive to bring about positive change.
