Ali Jan Damani: “O’ Imam! Please do not leave us”

Ali Jan Damani’s translation of the Ginan: Ejī tam ku(n) sadhāre so din bahot ja huā re pīyā, with a historical anecdote.

The word “ginan” is a derivative of the Sanskrit term jnan which means knowledge or gnosis. In the context of the Ismaili Muslim community, the term is used for the community’s collection of oral tradition of gnostic and devotional hymns.

  1. Sorry to correct the 9th GINAN above is Eji Duke Ne Sukh(Such) and not as written. It’s not duplicate comment. I just wanted to correct the wrong spelling in the aboven Ginan.
