Salimah Walji-Shivji appointed to the Board of United Way Calgary

Salimah received her Bachelor of Social Work in 1999 and Masters in Clinical Social Work in 2000, both from the University of Calgary. In addition, she completed her Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Manitoba in 2003.

Salimah is a social worker who has extensive health law experience having worked for the previous Calgary Health Region, now Alberta Health Services. Salimah’s clinical experience includes mental health, trauma and burns, as well as community social work with a focus on harm reduction with persons affected by HIV/AIDS. Salimah’s health law practice has focused in the areas of physician bylaws interpretation and advice, quality assurance, public health, continuing care, privacy, policy and risk management matters
