Midwest Girl Scouts: Restoration Workday!

By Irfan Ali – Northbrook, IL. December 10, 2016

Ismaili Muslim Girl Scouts troop from Midwest USA jamat participated in the annual restoration project hosted by Forest Preserves of Cook County Illinois at their River Trail Nature Center facility (http://fpdcc.com/volunteer/) in Northbrook, IL.

This project was a challenging one as it involved a lot of manual labor and the use of tools that many have not used before. The task was also difficult in the cold and snowy weather. Despite these challenges, The Girls Scouts and their leaders and parents completed the project with professionalism.

The Girl Scouts were motivated to complete the task as a gift to Mawlana Hazar Imam on his birthday – a gift of caring for humanity – a value that Mawlana Hazar Imam emphasizes and teaches by example.

Salgirah Mubarak!
