In this biography, Diana Miserez traces the life of Prince Sadruddin Aga Khan, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees from 1966 to 1977, a humanitarian, visionary and environmentalist.
Diana looks at his earliest involvement with the UN (UNESCO, UNHCR), and proceeds to describe the strenuous efforts he made, while still undertaking several prolonged UN missions (Lebanon, Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan), to raise awareness of the dangers of nuclear proliferation and of damage to the environment. The final chapters describe the prince’s superb art collection and his unique personality.
Throughout his life, Sadruddin Aga Khan worked with people at every level, often dealing with heads of state. Through the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) he was familiar with HRH Prince Philip, whose Assistant Private Secretary has conveyed to the author the Duke of Edinburgh’s pleasure on receiving a copy of the book on its publication.
