Refine your Common App Personal Statement
Dr. Shenila Khoja-Moolji is organizing a session on common app essays in Atlanta, GA.
This session is simply an effort to bring together ismaili students working on their essays in Atlanta so we can all help each other.
The session will bring together 20 students working on their college application essays (common app topics). The instructor + peers will provide feedback. Ideally students should be in 11th and 12th grade, and can only attend the session if agree to write a draft of their essays done before the first session (common app prompts below), revise it after the session, and submit for feedback as follows:
Sunday Dec 16 – 3 to 5pm: First session in which we will cover the genre of college application essay; students to come to this session having written a draft. They will be expected to revise the draft based on the information provided and submit to Professor Khoja-Moolji and a peer on Dec 19 for feedback.
Dec 19 – a good draft of the essay due to Professor Khoja-Moolji and a peer
Dec 28 – Feedback on essays from Professor Khoja-Moolji and a peer
Sunday Jan 6 – noon to 5pm: optional walk-in office hours for individual discussions on revised versions/ strategizing revisions (please sign up for a 20 mins slot).
Location: Decatur, GA; to be shared with students who have signed up

Dr. Shenila Khoja-Moolji is Assistant Professor of Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies at Bowdoin College. She received her doctorate from Columbia University, holds a Masters from Harvard University, and a Bachelors from Brown University.
