There was increased collaboration between the Aga Khan Development Network and the governments of several countries in the areas of education, health, and economic development.
The first Imamat humanitarian projects began in Tajikistan (1993). Aga Khan Foundation USA and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) signed an agreement in which the USDA provided food aid to the Gorno-Badakshan province of Tajikistan.
