Canadian Minister of National Defence, Honourable Harjit Singh Sajjan visits AKDN Institutions in Kenya & Tanzania

THE HONOURABLE HARJIT SINGH SAJJANAugust 15, 2016, Nairobi, Kenya – Canadian Minister of National Defence, Member of Parliament, Vancouver South. Former Police Officer, the Honourable Harjit Singh Sajjan wrapped up a successful two-day visit to Tanzania. He is on a five-country visit to Africa where he has been meeting with African partners as part of a fact-finding trip to inform Canada’s re-engagement in peace operations.

Minister Sajjan spent the first day in Dar es Salaam with representatives of Aga Khan Development Network. They discussed the construction of the Aga Khan University and toured the Aga Khan Hospital. In Kenya, Minister Sajjan toured the Canadian-supported Heart and Cancer Centre at the Aga Khan University Hospital. Since 2000, Canada has provided over $320 million to the Aga Khan Foundation Canada in support of development and humanitarian assistance activities in Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
