
The valedictorian speech at the Aga Khan University (AKU) Tanzania’s 2024 Graduation Convocation celebrated the achievements of graduates from the Institute of Education Development, the School of Nursing and Midwifery, and the Medical College. The speaker, Dr Vicky Ndunguru Kapesi, highlighted the collective journey of hard work, perseverance, and growth that defined the graduating class.
The speech emphasized AKU’s core principles—Impact, Quality, Relevance, and Access—with a special focus on the importance of living impactful lives in their chosen fields. Graduates were urged to be voices for advocacy, ethics, compassion, and positive change in their communities. The valedictorian reflected on the Congolese proverb, “No matter how full the river is, it still wants to grow,” inspiring lifelong learning and a commitment to excellence.
The ceremony marked a milestone for the graduates, celebrating their potential to carry AKU’s values and make a lasting impact wherever their journeys lead.
