“Share your blessings” — that’s the message from San Antonio’s Ismaili community as they, along with the San Antonio Merchant’s Association, held a massive food drive for the San Antonio Food Bank on Saturday.
The drive took place at the San Antonio Ismaili Jamatkhana. Around 15 pallets of food and hygiene products were collected for the food bank.
The group also donated 2,500 masks to Compassionate San Antonio, the city’s faith-based initiative.

For Muslims around the world, the month of Ramadan is a time of heightened commitment to spiritual fulfillment through special observances such as fasting, the performance of good deeds such as charitable giving and voluntary service, and through personal sacrifices of material comforts.
During the month of Ramadan, the Ismaili Muslim community will be supporting Canadians during the COVID-19 pandemic through a nationally-coordinated volunteer initiative called Ismaili CIVIC. The current global pandemic has resulted in a worldwide shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE) and left thousands of Canadian families more reliant on emergency food sources.
In response, the Ottawa Ismaili Muslim community is undertaking three initiatives:

May 19, 2020- Glenview (Chicago), USA
The Ismaili Jamatkhana in Glenview hosted a drive-thru food donation drive on Saturday to support those in need amid the COVID-19 crisis. The community generously came out and volunteers collected 4.5 tons of food and hygiene items. The event was co-sponsored by the Glenview Clergy Association and I-CERV (Ismaili Community Engaged in Responsible Volunteering). Items collected were donated to the Northfield Township Food Pantry.
Northfield Township Supervisor Jill Brickman stated, “We thank the Ismaili community for setting this up and having it be so well organized. It’s been a tremendous success. We helped the more than 800 families we are serving on a regular basis right now.
