Portugal to donate 10 mln euros to EU’s “Coronavirus Global Response” initiative
Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa announced on Monday (May 4, 2020) that his country will actively participate in the European Union (EU) initiative of the “Coronavirus Global Response” with a donation of 10 million euros.
At the donors’ conference held at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon, the prime minister said that Portugal will donate 10 million euros (10.9 million U.S. dollars), with 1.55 million euros from the government and 8.45 million euros from private companies and institutions, to the EU program to accelerate the development of vaccines and treatments for COVID-19. Imamat Ismaili gives 250,000 euros for the “Global response” to fight covid-19
Imamat Ismaili will contribute 250 thousand euros to the “Global response to COVID19 – Donor Conference”, promoted by the European Commission and which aims to accelerate the development of vaccine and treatments for the disease, the institution announced today.
The institution said, in a note, that Imamat Ismaili, an institution led by Aga Khan, “responded to the Portuguese Government’s appeal and will contribute 250,000 euros to the ‘Global Response to covid-19’”.
