When our Beloved Mawlana Hazar Imam ascended to the Throne of Imamat as the 49th Imam of Shia Ismaili Muslims, enthronement ceremonies were held in the three East African Cities of Dar es Salaam (Tanzania), Nairobi (Kenya) and Kampala (Uganda) in the month of October 1957 followed by ceremonies in Karachi (Pakistan) Dacca (Bangladesh) and Mumbai (India) in the months of January, February and March 1958 respectively.
Contributor Kamrudin Rashid, born in Zanzibar (Tanzania) and now living in Canada is pleased to share with the diverse readers of IsmaliMail the souvenir of the celebrations held in Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) on October 19, 1957 which was indeed a splendid event of its kind and was attended by over 30,000 Ismailis from around the world. The souvenirs for Kampala will also be shared with the readers in due course. Please enjoy this historical post.
