Almas Muscatwalla: Girl Boss 2019

Let’s not be cliché and talk about glass ceilings. Women have been busting through barriers and creating their own measurements for success for a while now. Instead, let’s talk about women in Plano — your neighbors and your friends — who are catalysts for change and initiators of good, who fight to provide opportunities for betterment that will benefit all genders.

Almas’s own faith home is Ismaili Jamakhana in Plano; she’s also a board member of the Girl-Boss-Shertzer-Almas-Muscatwalla-Featurenew-1170x557Texas Muslim Women’s Foundation. It’s her faith, she says, that inspires her to serve the entire community and to embrace diversity. She cites the teaching of His Highness the Aga Khan, the Imam of the Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims: “What a wonderful, liberating thing it would be if more of us, more of the time, could see diversity not as a burden, but as a blessing; not as a threat, but as an opportunity.”
