Walid Ehssan-HEARTist: Light Upon Light- Imamat Day Special 2019

“Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth.
The example of His light is like a niche within which is a lamp,
The lamp is within glass, the glass as if it were a pearly [white] star,
Lit from [the oil of] a blessed olive tree,
Neither of the east nor of the west,
Whose oil would almost glow even if untouched by fire.
Light upon light.
Allah guides to His light whom He wills.
And Allah presents examples for the people,
and Allah is Knowing of all things.”
(al-Nur, 24/35)

This master piece is one of my special projects that I thought of last year during the Diamond Jubilee Mulaqat. Ours is an esoteric religion, we believe in “Nur” which has been the guide for us since the first day of this world.

I have done many projects for people over the years who have appreciated my work. But this time for Imamat Day, I wanted to do something for my self that stays with me and reminds me of those beautiful moments I had last year in 2018. When I started to plan about this project, I wasn’t quite sure at first as to what medium I should use that would have a long lasting memory, a source of inspiration for me? Finally, one day while working on another project, this idea of painting on the wall struck me, which I have never done before. I have painted these pictures on the wall directly across from my workstation at home where I spend most of my time working on projects.

Since release of this video via my “official” Facebook page, I have had fans/followers ask questions about why use the color Black? Why not other colors? I always want to bring something different and unique then what is normally used and seen. And of course, the inspiration comes from our Imam who is the creator of our wisdom. I want it. I ask for it. I work hard for it. I dedicate my time for it. I constantly think about it. I believe in the power, potential and capacity of my inner self. He grabs my hands and gives me ideas for the fulfillment. I am humbled, and most importantly I am grateful for everything.I always try to use songs in the background when making videos of my projects. I feel, adding songs gives that extra dimension and enhances the mood of viewers watching my videos. Now a days, I get song requests to be added to my videos from family/ friends who think that would potentially be used with my projects. This song by Natasha Baig sent by my brother perfectly matched with my project. Thank you Natasha Baig for such a beautiful and heart touching song.
