July 6, 2019, Calgary, Alberta, Canada: Ismaili Muslim community of Calgary hosted their 23rd Annual Stampede Breakfast on July 6, 2019 at Ismaili Jamatkhana and Centre in Calgary. This annual family friendly event featuring eggs from shells, bharazi (coconut based breakfast curry from coastal east Africa) and pancakes was an open event for ALL to enjoy! This annual event gives an opportunity to Ismaili Muslim community of Calgary another way to give back to this great community, this great country that has given them a lot to be Thankful for.
Just like the years past. This year’s event also brought lots of excitement within the Calgary community. People from all over the city came to this great event and enjoyed to the max!
Many dignitaries such as Jason Kenney (Premier of Alberta), Naheed Nenshi (Mayor of Calgary), Michelle Rempel Garner (Member of Parliament for Calgary Nose Hill), Nathan Cooper (MLA for Olds- Didsbury- Three Hills and the Speaker of the Alberta Legislative Assembly) among others were seen enjoying the yummy breakfast and enjoying the festivities.
Leela Sharon Aheer (MLA for Chestermere-Strathmore) said on her social media account ” What an amazing start to # at the Ismaili Muslim Community Stampede Breakfast this morning. Thank you for having me and to all the amazing volunteers!!”
Dr. Richard Sigurdson (Dean, Faculty of Arts, and professor of Political Science at the University of Calgary) said ” The real heroes of the # Muslim Community # Breakfast are the many good people who organized the event & served up the delicious meal, especially the bharazi. Thanks volunteers! #
