In commemoration of Mawlana Hazar Imam’s Diamond Jubilee and Canada’s 150th anniversary, the Canadian Ismaili Muslim community launches Ismaili CIVIC 150, a pledge to Canada of one million volunteer service hours to improving quality of life. The Ismaili CIVIC 150 pledge is from July 1, 2017 and will continue until the pledge is fulfilled.
On September 17, 2017, known as Ismaili CIVIC Day, the Canadian Ismaili Muslim community will host events in six regions across the country to contribute voluntary service towards the 1 million hour pledge to Canada. Ismaili CIVIC 150 will engage all members of the community, including families and friends, and will be an opportunity to establish and enhance relationships with civil society including Canadian government institutions, not-for-profit organizations and charities who will be invited to be part of the day.
I believe the Ismaili’s would be the first community to render ONE MILLION HOURS of voluntary service for the Canadian Country. Congratulations. This is a marvellous beginning and will remain a milestone in the history of the Great Country of Canada that accepted pluralism. Mashaallah.
