Egypt inaugurates “Blue Mosque” in Cairo

Egypt’s Antiquities minister Mamdouh Al Damati, Prince Karim Aga Khan, Chairman of Aga Khan organization for culture and Cairo governor, Galal Al Saied, inaugurated on Saturday The Blue Mosque “Al-Gamea Al-Azraq” in Al Darb Al Ahmar district in Cairo, after finishing its restoration work.

Al Damati noted that the restoration work began in 2001, pointing out to the World Monuments Fund’s contribution in the restoration project. Noteworthy, this mosque was destroyed after the earthquake that hit Egypt in 1992.
