Up until April 2013, I had never even heard of this country called Kyrgyzstan. Yet, here I am.. preparing to move to this mysterious land to work for a development university for 8 months. I have been chosen as one of 26 young Canadians to partake in the Aga Khan Foundation Canada International Fellowship Program. I will be living in the capital city of Bishkek and will be working with the University of Central Asia (UCA) in the Communications department.
This blog will outline my time in Kyrgyzstan.. my time working with UCA, my explorations in the mountains of K-stan, my learning to navigate a gluten free lifestyle abroad, attempts to learn the local language and my observations about this foreign culture. I am passionate about development and this field and hope to gain valuable experience from this placement overseas.
