Dr. Shafik Dharamsi: Early Childhood Development Program improves lives of kids in developing nations | Vancouver SunDr. Shafik Dharamsi is the former Regional Program Director of the Aga Khan Foundation’s Madrasa Early Childhood Development Program in East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda). We had the chance to sit down with Dr. Dharamsi and ask him about the work he did to help improve the lives of kids in these developing countries.

Dr. Dharamsi is currently a professor with the UBC Faculty of Medicine and serves as Lead Faculty of the Global Health Network with the UBC Liu Institute for Global Issues. He served as the Associate Director of the UBC Centre for International Health from 2005 to 2010. He recently received the prestigious UBC Peter Wall Institute for Advanced Studies Visiting Scholar Abroad Award to develop a global perspective and long-term international research agenda on social accountability in medicine and the development of socially responsive physicians.
