Ismaili Sea Scouts of Karachi Celebrated 65th Independance Day of Pakistan

Al-Azeem Virani – Karachi—The Independence Day was celebrated here at KPT Head Office in great fervor. The proceedings started with beguile blowing for two minutes followed by flag hoisting by the chief guest on the occasion, the Chairperson KPT Nasreen Haque; and took the guard of honor from neatly dressed battalions of Port Fire Service, Port Security Force, Port Civil Defence, Traffic Department, Marine Apprentice A and Karachi Sea Scouts.

Sea Scouting is organized to promote better citizenship and to improve members’ boating skills and knowledge through instruction and practice in water safety, boating skills, outdoor, social, and service experiences, and knowledge of maritime heritage.

There are about 9 Ismaili Sea Scouts, including 4 officers, 1 Sea Shaheen, 1 Sea Scout, 2 Sea Cadets (rovers) and 1 Sea Ranger. They are on a very initial stage and believe may many sea minded youth join this group to know seamanship.

  5. i would like to add some things just to avoid any misconceptions; Karachi Sea Scout is an Open Group registered with Karachi Open District; providing sea activities regardless of any cast, creed and religion since 1938. And we welcome every one to join KSS who enjoys water activities

  6. The Karachi Sea Scouts group founded in 1938 by three persons, Mr. E. W Oakley, Mr. A.F. Furgeusons, and Lt. G. S. Ahuja. The initial number of boys were 13. They were from Parsi families, Hindu families, Christian families and Muslim families. Being the scouting group, Karachi Sea Scouts have always promoted brotherhood whether from any cast, creed, and religion which is the basic pinciple of scouting. The Karachi Sea Scouts welcomes people joing from Ismaili Community to this group. We are open for every one any one subject to meeting certain criteria. I being the Skipper & Capt. Supdt. of the T.S. Jamshed Nusserwanji welcome all our freinds joining Karachi Sea Scouts whether they belong to any sects. Thanks Alazeem, Aatir and Saba hope your joing to the group would add new horizon of activities for Ismailis.

  7. I was with the Karachi Sea Scouts from 1945 to 1949. Skipper Iqbal Qureshi was in charge when I left. Being a Sea Scout was one of the best years of my life!
The Sea Scouts were in attendence at the swearing in of Mohammed Ali Jinah as the first Govenor General of Pakistan.
I would love to hear from anyone of the Sea Scouts of that time or if any body who has pictures or video of that occasion with the Sea Scouts in it.
