Rahim is an alumnus of the Aga Khan School system in Pakistan and the recipient of several academic awards including the AKES and Commonwealth scholarships. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant and a Cost & Management Accountant and has been elected as the Fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan and the Institute of Cost & Management Accountants of Pakistan. He has also obtained his MA degree in Educational Planning, Economics and International Development from the Institute of Education, University of London.
He is currently associated with the University of Central Asia (UCA) as Director of Finance and Administration and provides leadership and oversight to Finance, Administration, Information Technology and Human Resources functions. He has also served the Aga Khan Education Service, Pakistan (AKES, P) for more than a decade in various capacities as Programme Manager for Humanitarian Assistance Programme, General Manager for Finance, Planning and Support Services, Company Secretary, Dy. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the Acting CEO. Prior to that Rahim was associated with the Internal Audit department of the Aga Khan University Hospital. He has completed his CA article-ship from A.F. Ferguson & Co. (a member firm of the Price Waterhouse Coopers).
Rahim has substantial experience of managing the largest Service Company within the AKES system including multi-year major grant from European Commission and other donor agencies and University Services functions at the UCA. He has a well rounded exposure in finance, strategic and financial planning, human resource management, systems and MIS, administration, capital projects, Corporate Affairs, Internal audit and the programme management. His major specific accomplishments have been setting up financial, administrative and human resources function at the University; active participation in developing the Integrated Implementation Plan for the UCA and successfully leading the strategic portfolio review and the access study at the AKES, P including the integrated planning exercise for the social development, which included Education, Health and the Built environment. His close involvement and significant contribution in the development of the AKES, P’s long-term strategy and the UCA’s Integrated Implementation Plan is the testimony of his involvement in all the core planning and the strategic thinking at the highest levels of the organization.
