Ismaili Couple chooses charity as their Gift Registry

Interesting and noble idea for wedding gifts! For those who may not be aware, Gift Registry is a way for guests to give wedding gifts of choice to the bride and groom. Hope the trend catches up.

From Fez Meghani’s blog:

I was particularly touched by the fact that Shezad and Sofia chose the Aga Khan Foundation as their Gift Registry. Labeling it as a ‘Gift of Hope’, this is what they said, “In lieu of conventional wedding gifts, we would like our family and friends to open their hearts and make a gift to Aga Khan Foundation, as this is a cause that is dear to our hearts. We have been blessed throughout our lifetime and would love to start our new life with sharing with those in need and bringing hope to their lives.”

  1. It is a brilliant and innovative idea that could inspire others also to follow suit. This surely is what we call internalizing the ethic of compassion and living with one’s faith every moment!

  2. Double Mubarakbadis to Shezad and Sofia: 1) For their wedding and 2) for having the grace and sensibility to undertake this new beginning in such a compassionate fashion. May they be blessed…

  3. Congratulations on your wedding. God bless you with a lifetime of happiness and prosperity. You have come up with an exellent idea.
I sincerely hope people donate generously. I have been trying to raise funds for AKDN (Focus Humanitarian) in the Ottawa area and I tell you it’s like pulling teeth. Have had a better response from the ordinary people than those who drive their fancy mercedes, BMW’s et al.
    God bless you.

  4. I think anyone who is generous enough to give to charity is a hero, but setting up your gift registry to be a donation to charity takes it to another level. Well done.
