Aga Khan Academy Mombasa – Records Tumble At Swimming Championship

The Aga Khan Academy Mombasa swimmers were declared the best boys team, the best girls team and the overall winners of the 2008 CSSSA swimming championships.

Rachita Shah managed to break two records which were set in 2004. The 50 meters senior girls butterfly record which stood at 39.04 sec (set by Vishula Patel, former AKAM swimmer) was brought down to 35.73 secs.

Another record which Rachita broke was set by her sister Ankita shah (also a former AKAM swimmer) was the 100 meters Back stoke, the record stood at 1.21.13 now stands at 1.18.50.

Several swimmers from the academy were selected to represent the province (Coast) in the nationals which will be held in Thika from 14th to19th April. These are Anham Salyani, Mildred Okello, Devina Mojaria, Soraiya Valli, Ester Okelo, Rachita Shah, Arjun Kotecha, Akshay Shah, Allan Nondi, Antony Adede and Mirdat Adam.

The academy coach Mr. Mohamed A. Ahmed was happy with the teams performance and is sure of good performance in Thika.
