Audiences at Iavoloha: His Highness the Aga Khan and Ambassador of South Africa received by the President

The President Marc Ravalomanana received this morning of Tuesday, November 27, 2007, at 11 am, at the State Palace of Iavoloha, His Highness the Aga Khan, Imam of Shiite Muslims imamites ismailis, arrived yesterday for a stay of 4 days on the ground Malagasy. The visit follows an invitation by the Head of State and government, and also corresponds with the celebration of the Golden Jubilee of the Aga Khan which runs from July 11, 2007 to July 11, 2008. Indeed, over 50 years ago, His Highness the Aga Khan to the imamate accessed at the age of 20 years.
It was for the two personalities to give a new impetus to the relations of cooperation between the Aga Khan Network for Development and Madagascar.
The Network Aga Khan Development (Aga Khan Development Network, or AKDN) is a group of private agencies, international and non-religious, who are working to improve living conditions and create opportunities in certain regions of the world development. Organizations Network each have a specific mission in areas as diverse as health, education, architecture, rural development and the promotion of private enterprise. Regarding Madagascar, the Sofia region enjoyed in 2005 a program on securing and improving rural incomes of peasants, and in 2006, the Aga Khan Agency for Microfinance (Akam) opened the First Agency in Microfinance the same region, in Antananarivo and Mahajanga.
This period of commemoration of the Golden Jubilee allow His highness to visit several countries, which will not only celebrate the friendship and support of the various heads of state, members of government and other partners Activities of the imamate ismaili, but also will provide an opportunity to mark the future directions of collaboration with the launch of major initiatives and programs.
