The Aga Khan deserves honour

LETTERS – from Daily Nation

Publication Date: 8/20/2007

His Highness the Aga Khan deserves honour for his contributions to the development of East Africa.

Indeed, the Aga Khan has done a lot across the globe.

His organisations have helped reduce global poverty considerably. Yet the Aga Khan is still working round the clock to make our world a better place to live in.

The Aga Khan stands out as a person with the enthusiasms, dream and vision, to help the suffering majority through actions, not rhetoric.

The hospitals, learning institutions and businesses owned by the Aga Khan, have accommodated people of all walks of life.

I call upon our local tycoons to emulate the Aga Khan’s good example of extending a helping hand to the needy irrespective of their religion.

Indeed, the socio-economic challenges such as poverty, diseases and insecurity, which bedevil the African continent today, can be reduced if our rich men and women team up in the fight against them.
