Philosophy behind Ismailimail (IM)
The symbol of IM uses ‘o’ or “vaav”. ‘O’ comes from the words like Muhammad or Ali in Calligraphy and shows the subject or the doer of an action and ‘vaav’ is ‘and’ which shows connection. It is to depict “I’m” I am. I am a proud Ismaili and that I am strong and confident in my faith and my community to be identified as an Ismaili Muslim.
The logo was exclusively designed by one of our readers, an architect by profession. The logo features Fatimid Imam-Caliph Nizar’s Gold Dinar depicting the major historical event. The English letters “I” and “M” portray the contemporary existence of Ismailis, having a personal impact in the world(s)—spiritual and material.

The Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims, generally known as the Ismailis, belong to the Shia branch of Islam. The Shia form one of the two major branches of Islam, the Sunni being the other. His Highness Rahim Al-Husseini Aga Khan V became Imam (spiritual leader) of the Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims on February 4, 2025, succeeding his father, Prince Karim Al-Husseini Aga Khan. He is the 50th hereditary Imam of the Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims and a direct descendant of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) through his cousin and son-in-law, Ali, the first Imam, and his wife Fatima, the Prophet’s daughter.

The Spirit and Life, or Din and Duniya Exhibition is now in Texas, I heard Professor William Chittick at SOAS, School of Oriental and African Studies at London University on Tuesday night, the scholar of Sufism. My special day out from Birmingham to London to her him was so fulfilling. Khayar!

^^ The Spirit and Life exhibition is actually not in Texas, rather, many of the pieces from that exhibition are currently in Paris at the Louvre.
If I’m not mistaken, the exhibition currently in Texas is one on the work of the Aga Khan Trust for Culture’s Historic Cities Programme.

I discovered this site when searching for House of Manji.
The late Madatally Manji of Kenya, East Africa was a close friend of my father who built the Baring Biscuit factory and to my knowledge the Manji family owned The White House Bakery.
I would appreciate if someone can put me in touch with the Manji family. Some old pictures and historical, sentimental documents I would like to share.
The K & A family in Nairobi was very close family friends. Namely Ahmedbhai, Samsubhai.

This blog has become a personal favorite of mine for several reasons, and I wanted to share those with you:
* All of your posts are accompanied by references and links to credible sources.
* Your posts are not simply copy & pastes of entire articles, but you’ve taken the time in many cases to extract particular elements of interest, and encourage the reader to go to the original source if they are interested in the rest.
* Your posts often include audio and video, allowing visitors to gain a different level of appreciation for the diversity of culture and expression within a global context.
* You’ve supported the official web-sites instead of competing with them!
* By allowing comments, but taking the time to moderate them (IE they need approval before they show up), you proactively ensure appropriateness of what readers view on the blog.
* Last but certainly not least, Ismaili Mail in my mind is a successful role model of a civil society organization on the Internet – complimenting the work of the institutions towards common goals and aspirations.
Looking forward to the day when you can say, ‘billions served’!
