M. Ali Lakhani, QC, read Law at Cambridge University, UK, and has been a barrister in Vancouver, Canada, for over four decades. In 1998, he founded Sacred Web: A Journal of Tradition and Modernity, now the leading journal in its field, and endorsed by HRH The Prince of Wales, Karen Armstrong and Seyyed Hossein Nasr, among others. His books include The Sacred Foundations of Justice in Islam (2006), which contains his essay on Imam Ali for which he won the First Prize at the Imam Ali Conference in Iran in 2001; The Timeless Relevance of Traditional Wisdom (2010); Faith and Ethics: The Vision of the Ismaili Imamat (2018), a study of the ideas of the Aga Khan, published by the Institute of Ismaili Studies; and When the Rose Blooms (2021), a collection of his spiritual aphorisms.
