The British Accounting and Finance Association (BAFA), formerly the British Accounting Association, was established in 1947 and provides a professional voice for the United Kingdom’s (UK) accounting and finance community. The organisation promotes the development of innovative approaches to research and teaching in accounting and finance, and celebrates the breadth and diversity of research by UK and international researchers. They also collaborate with other organisations (such as the Academy of Social Sciences, the British Academy, and accounting professional bodies) to promote accounting and finance as a social science that has an effect on professional practice and affects society (BAFA).

BAFA awarded the 2021 Lifetime Achievement Award to Alnoor Bhimani, Professor of Management Accounting and Director of the South Asia Centre at the London School of Economics. This award is presented to individuals for their substantial and direct contribution to UK academic accounting and finance over the course of their careers through research, teaching or public service.
The awards were presented on 12 April 2022.
