As the USA TODAY Network commemorates the centennial of the 19th Amendment, women who you may not know will have the spotlight on the work they are doing to improve communities across America. Womankind, a spin-off series within the popular Humankind franchise, will showcase moments of triumph of 10 women’s endeavors that aim to improve the lives of people around them.
“The women in Womankind inspire men, women and children to think about how they themselves can be better, do better and want better for their loved ones,” said Executive Producer of Womankind and the larger Humankind brands, Lauren Ready. “The relatability of these everyday women helps our audience connect with these stories and be inspired to be extraordinary themselves.”
Womankind also aims to highlight the stories of women of color in America. For example, Dr. Gulshan Harjee is an example of a woman giving back to her community in Georgia by providing healthcare for uninsured and underserved people free of charge. The number of obstacles that she has faced is unimaginable. But everything Dr. Harjee has gone through has made it possible for her to do this.
