Dr. Habib Kurwa was recently featured as Alberta Health Services Doc of the Week. Dr Kurwa is dermatologist that specializes in treating skin cancer, specifically Mohs’ micrographic surgery and photodynamic therapy. He is an active member of the University of Calgary’s Division of Dermatology, training the next generation of dermatology physicians in skin cancer recognition and treatment.
“What drives me is the relationships we get to build with patients and the effectiveness of these procedures,” says Dr. Kurwa. “I’m especially proud when we provide care and reassurance to patients who would otherwise find their diagnosis and treatment intimidating and so they can relax and enjoy the experience as part of our team.”
Originally from the United Kingdom, Dr Kurwa has spent the past 10 years in Calgary. He has been involved in various institutional capacities in both the UK and Canada. He enjoys theatre, reading, swimming and biking with his young children. He also has a passion for drawing and painting, and one of his works was recently exhibited at the National Jubilee Arts Festival.
