“We dedicate our success to our teachers and parents. It is due to their hard work we were able to achieve the success today. It was a long journey from the local level to the national level and today we are proud that we have won the competition.”

The national finals of Iqra, the Diamond Jubilee Qir’at competition organised by the Ismaili Tariqah and Religious Education Board for Pakistan (ITREBP), were held in Islamabad Serena Hotel. Qir’at, or Quranic recitation, is a skill that encompasses memory, pronounciation and intonation. Aftab Alam, Saliha Saleem and Erum Karim achieved first place in level one, two and three respectively. The competition was part of a series of activities to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Mawlana Hazar Imam.
