Naila Karmali is a Calgary based vocal artist and songwriter who began her musical journey at the age of 16. She started singing by getting inspired by her father Anwar Karmali who is also a wonderful vocal artist of his time. Following her father’s footsteps, Naila continued to pursue her passion through live performances, studio recordings, song writing and became a musical vocal mentor through the Prairies Arts and Culture Portfolio. During the Golden Jubilee of Mawlana Hazar Imam, Naila was the local director for the Calgary Ismaili Choir and performed with various devotional groups like Sajda, Soneri Safar and a devotional program called Shukriya. She also had the privilege to perform for the 2016 Games in Dubai in July 2016 and currently is one of the lead vocalist for a local live band called Kashish.
