Mohammed is one of the most common names in the world and also one of the most heavily stigmatized. Post-9/11, many associate the name with terrorism, marginalizing millions of Muslims around the world.
“I Am Mohammed” an interactive photo exhibition that aims to highlight the absurdity of Islamophobia by showcasing the stories of people – of all ages, sexes and nationalities – that bear the name. The exhibit features photographs of Mohammeds from diverse backgrounds – scientists, scholars, activists, imams and just regular everyday citizens – accompanied by short descriptions of their work and an audio story from those represented.
