In a way there is nothing more exposing than standing in front of one’s own work but it’s through my passion for photography that I’m also able to share my passion for animals, wildlife and conservation and now with the help of evenings like this I want to take this passion to the next stage by starting a fund called Focused On Nature.

We are decimating these animals!
Losing them to habitat destruction and degradation, to hunting, poaching and many other factors.
So ladies and gentlemen tonight is not about raising money, but it’s about raising awareness of the cause that is dear to me and it is for this reason that I’m grateful for the opportunity to be able to talk to you.
Thank you very much
– Prince Hussain Aga Khan, Founder and Photographer, Focused On Nature
On Thursday, 26th May 2016, The Rumi Foundation hosted an exhibition and dinner for Focused On Nature.
By exhibiting Prince Hussain’s photographs of endangered species, Focused On Nature shares The Rumi Foundation’s belief that education and raising awareness is the key to preventing the eradication of endangered species and their habitats.

Since 2006 The Rumi Foundation has served as the channel for the Verjee family’s support of a diverse mix of philanthropic initiatives.
With a focus towards education, innovation and entrepreneurship, whilst also seeking to raise awareness of dialogue with individuals who possess the capacity to inform opinion, the Foundation has demonstrated an ongoing commitment to humanitarian work not just in the UK, but also in India, East Africa, and South America.
The Rumi Foundation believes that innovation and learning are by far the greatest agents for positive social change – and it is our aim to nurture fresh thinking and to extend its influence beyond institutional and geographical boundaries.
The Rumi Foundation exists to spark new ideas, to share knowledge and, above all, to make a lasting contribution to our world.
Prince Hussain Aga Khan – Focused On Nature
Prince Hussain Aga Khan founded Focused On Nature to assist in the conservation and protection of threatened and endangered species, as well as the conservation of under threat habitats.
As an avid photographer, Prince Hussain has taken some truly remarkable photographs of some of the world most beautiful and endangered species. From photographing marine life whilst free diving to roaming the great plains of East Africa in search of elusive shots of endangered species, Prince Hussain’s photographs aim to inspire this and future generations to protect our environment.
By generously placing his entire portfolio at the disposal of Focused On Nature for sale, proceeds from Prince Hussain’s limited edition photographs are donated to environmental projects that have immediate impact in wildlife conservation, protection, preservation and education.
Collections of his photographs have been published in 2 books, Animal Voyage in 2004 (a new editions was printed in 2007) and Diving into Wildlife in 2015.
