Toronto, 25 May 2015 — Under sunny blue skies and with a refreshing breeze, the Honourable Kathleen Wynne, Premier of Ontario, inaugurated the Aga Khan Park this afternoon in the presence of Mawlana Hazar Imam.
The ceremony, which was held on the park’s grounds, was attended by Prince Amyn and Prince Hussain, along with members of government, Jamati leaders, and other honoured guests. The Premier and Hazar Imam each addressed the guests, and together unveiled a ceremonial plaque to mark the occasion.
Following the ceremony, Mawlana Hazar Imam toured the gardens with landscape architect Vladimir Djurovic, who designed the Park.
The Park’s inauguration followed the signing of a historic Agreement of Cooperation between the Ismaili Imamat and the province earlier in the day. The agreement envisions the Imamat and the province working together to leverage diversity and culture as an economic driver and in supporting a pluralistic approach to education.
