Story
My parents were born and raised in East Africa but are of South Asian descent and I am 1st generation Canadian. I identify strongly with my South Asian Diaspora, and my East African heritage but always think of myself as Canadian. I am a DiverseCity fellow who moved to Toronto from Vancouver and fell in love with this city’s sparkle and culture – which I credit to the richness of its people. I am a strong believer that our Canadian people (the diversity of perspective) make us the successful country we are today.
