Sports Diplomacy:  Reminiscing Alisha and Salim-Sulaiman’s inspiring “Africa – You’re the Star” 2010 FIFA World Cup anthem

Celebrating continental Africa’s first hosting of the FIFA World Cup in South Africa, Ismaili artists from opposite shores of the Indian Ocean, joined hands with Africa’s talented artists to record this inspiring anthem for 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Bollywood music duo Salim and Sulaiman Merchant also performed ‘Shukran Allah’ from ‘Kurbaan’ along with songs with other African beats. The duo also collaborated with South African singers and Columbian pop sensation – Shakira’s World Cup song ‘Waka Waka.’

Previously, Alisha Popat performaned at the opening and closing ceremonies of the Golden Jubilee Games held in Nairobi in 2008.

Award winning Salim & Sulaiman have also performed at various Jamati and Institutional events in the presence of Mowlana Hazar Imam and Princess Zahra in India and Kenya.
