Tanzania’s cardiovascular experts have resorted to forging strategic alliances with their foreign counterparts in a long-term battle against complex threats posed by the disease and related health complications.
“It’s not possible to fight these problems single-handedly…we need support from other partners—professionals, governments and health associations,” said Dr Jaffer Dharsee, Director of Medical Health Services of Aga Khan Health facilities in Tanzania, at the official opening of the East African regional cardiovascular symposium held at the weekend in Dar es Salaam.
The regional forum, “Cardiovascular Updates and Status of Cardiac Services in EAC” drew cardiovascular and other health experts from EAC member states, other African, western countries and the US.
