Tashmin Khamis Received Award of Distinction From Aga Khan University

Professor Tashmin Khamis, Member of the Board of The Institute of Ismaili Studies, received the Award of Distinction for Outstanding Service to Aga Khan University on March 19, 2023, following the Convocation celebrating the Chancellor in its first-ever Founder’s Day and the University’s 40th anniversary.

Professor Khamis is the Vice Provost Quality, Teaching and Learning at the Aga Khan University. The award was presented by Princess Zahra to recognize Professor Khamis’s outstanding service to enhance teaching and learning across the University, AKDN and beyond.

Professor Khamis founded the Network of Quality, Teaching and Learning (QTL_net) in 2013. Under her leadership, the Network has been able to professionalize teaching and learning, making Aga Khan University the only University in South Asia and East Africa to be accredited by Advance HE in the UK, where she gained a Principal Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (PFHEA). The accredited TEACH scheme has now been extended to include IIS faculty.

Professor Tashmin Khamis’s contributions have been recognized internationally, acknowledged through international awards: the UNESCO supported Zairi Award 2022 and the Times Higher Education shortlist for Teaching and Learning Strategy of 2023.
