Are you an undergraduate student curious to learn more about South Asian Muslim heritage and related subjects? Would you like a fully funded international research experience studying fascinating topics about South Asian Islamic history and literature at one of the world’s premier universities? Are you fluent in Gujarati, Sindhi, or Kachchhi, along with English?

If so, please apply to join the research team of Prof. Shafique Virani, one of the world’s leading scholars of Ismaili Studies, at the University of Toronto in Canada. Click here to read some of Prof. Virani’s publications.
Up to fifteen accepted students will be trained by Prof. Virani, given round-trip airfare to Canada from their home country, and receive a full stipend to cover their necessary expenses, including accommodation, food, and health insurance for the Summer of 2022 (May-August).
Successful applicants will take professional development courses and receive a certificate of completion. In addition, those interested in returning to Canada for graduate studies will be eligible to apply for a graduate fellowship.
The program, funded in collaboration with Mitacs Globalink, is open to undergraduate students from India, Pakistan, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia, Brazil, China, Colombia, Hong Kong, Mexico, Taiwan, Tunisia, and Ukraine.
