The 2020 Diversity Institute at Ryerson University research report found:
51% of Toronto’s population is racialized, vs. 16.2 % of voluntary sector board directors.
49% of Vancouver’s population is racialized, vs. 16.8% of voluntary sector board directors.
These numbers speak volumes.
Can these boards effectively address the needs of the communities they serve?
Can they optimally govern these organizations?
The talent is out there, but boards need to recognize the value of diversity and CAST A WIDER NET.
As Civic Leaders serving on NFP Boards, WE MUST ACT NOW to increase board diversity and be inclusive. If not now, then when?
