Please Overlook My Shortcomings; Heal Me, O’ Lord! Maalik Mere #Eid2020 Special Gift @kamalhaji

Maine ki hai khataa, Tu ho na khafaa ab, de de shifa

Please overlook my shortcomings; Heal me, O’ Lord

Since its official release, Salim-Sulaiman’s “MAALIK MERE” has become a soothing prayer for many around the world. With over 3 million views and counting, this song is a musical masterpiece that has already made its mark.

Ismailimail reached out to Kamal Haji (lyricist) to get his views on the success of this song. He also took time to send Eid greeting to his fans.

This song was released during the time of Eid al-Fitr, and now we are celebrating Eid Al-Adha. Working on this project with Salim-Sulaiman was a treat for me personally. Knowing the circumstances surrounding this project amidst pandemic lockdown, and how Salim-Sulaiman were able to overcome the challenges was a learning experience I will never forget. Lots has changed in the world in these past few months. This Covid-19 pandemic has taught us a valuable lesson. I really hope that the message portrayed in this song continues to resonate with the listeners. We are nowhere near the end of this pandemic, and I hope, that we continue to reflect upon our physical lives, and what lies ahead.

The core message of Eid-Al-Adha focuses on Sacrifice and Nazrana. I hope we continue to look for opportunities to try and help others around us who are less fortunate and are in need of basic necessities of life. In these unprecedented times, agencies of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) are pulling together to find creative and effective solutions to sustain the important work that needs to be done to improve the quality of human life. I encourage all to donate if they can to this wonderful initiative.

Heartiest Eid Mubarak to all celebrating around the world. May you be happy and healthy. Aamen!
