Three talented and upcoming musicians, Raafi Gillani, Sara Visram and Muskaan Visram, all from Canada Jamat came together for this musical tribute to our beloved Mawla for the auspicious occasion of #ImamatDay2020.
“Rising Stars Music!“
Rising: Raafi Gillani (Drums)
Stars: Sara Visram (Sitar)
Music: Muskaan Visram (Piano)
Reasons for this collaboration:
Raafi Gillani: I collaborated to convey my humble Shukrana, love and affection to our beloved Hazar Imam. I also did this because it represents our Ismaili community. We have tried to blend Eastern Sitar, with Western Piano, and drums, while remotely working due to the current pandemic. We hope you like our attempt. Imamat Day Mubarak!
Muskaan and Sara Visram: Both my sister (Muskaan) and I have always been quite excited every year when khushali time comes around, it gives us immense pleasure to be able to show our affection to our Mowla, after everything he does for us. The happiness we feel after performing and giving seva in khane, and seeing the happiness we give to the murids in our ummah, it makes us feel like we’re really contributing. We love to share our experiences and skills as we’ve both been learning different types of dance and learning to play Sitar. We present our performances because it gives us a way to express the way we feel especially for our Mawla. This specific form of art resonates with us particularly because it is a way to express our love, devotion and gratitude to our Mawla. We have always heard the Ismaili anthem during the Imamat day celebration, and it is our privilege to be able to preform it for the first time this year. Hope you enjoy. Imamat Day Mubarak!
