ATLANTA – Georgia: Awards and honors keep piling.

A refugee resettlement in the United States of America has presented Dr. Gulshan Harjee, an Ismaili medical doctor in Atlanta, with the Friend of Freedom Award.

New American Pathways is a refugee resettlement organization.

Dr. Harjee, an asylum seeker herself, was honored for her tireless efforts in providing medical care to refugees.

A silent auction at the event raised $230,000 for refugee resettlement.

The Freedom award was presented to the doctor by Paedia Mixon, the Chief Executive Officer of New American Pathways (see attached photograph).

The doctor has received numerous awards.

Dr. Harjee co-founded the Clarkson community Health care Center, a non-profit organization providing comprehensive health care to the underserviced community.

Since 1992, the doctor has served on the board of UNICEF’s Campaign USA and the Georgia Breast Cancer Coalition.

She has been the president and chief executive officer of First Medical Care Inc. in Atlanta, U.S.A.

In 2015, she was presented with the John Houston Allen Humanitarian Award.

This award recognized her distinguished achievements and meritorious service that bridged religious and ethnic background to make the world a better place.

For many years, Harjee has been involved in helping the unemployed, homeless and the refugee communities get much-needed healthcare.

A native of Tanzania, Dr. Harjee was first forced to move to Pakistan at the age of 16 to continue her education and again to Iran to attend college and medical school and then once again to the United States after the Iranian revolution.

Dr. Harjee is the recipient of multiple humanitarian awards.

She has been in Atlanta for the past 37 years, is married to Zul Devji, an economist who was educated in Uganda and England.

    I’ve seen you work for refugee settlement program and you have worked with something called TAN MAN DHAN. Which MHI is very proud (Work no words) and your voluntary services have been exemplary.
