A collaboration between the City of Vancouver and BC Muslim Communities
Eid al-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice, is observed by Muslims around the world in commemoration of one of the greatest trials of faith in the life of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham – upon whom be peace). In Muslim and Judeo-Christian traditions, it is related that, as a test of Hazrat Ibrahim’s faith, the Almighty calls upon him to sacrifice his beloved son.
For Muslims today, this holiday renews the importance of making sacrifices in one’s daily lives; such as those of one’s time, energy and resources for the benefit others. It is also an opportunity to commemorate the occasion, and come together as one community to partake in festivities and refreshments.
We look forward to you joining us for a celebration of the festival of Eid al-Adha on Friday, August 24, 2018.
