Karen Anderson had a career as a nurse before she started a family and began writing about food for local publications. After taking a cooking class from Noorbanu Nimji in the late 1990s, she developed a love for Indian culture and cooking.
Anderson began testing and transcribing recipes for Nimji, a cookbook author. She also started leading food tours of Calgary’s Little India. Ten years ago, Anderson launched Calgary Food Tours (calgaryfoodtours.com), which takes the hungry and curious on tours of Kensington, the East Village, 17th Avenue and Inglewood, as well as the Calgary Farmers’ Market.
