On this day in 1989, Her Royal Highness Princess Anne, Chancellor of the University of London, conferred on His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan, an honorary degree of Doctor of Literature in Education – D. Litt. (honoris causa), during the Founders Day Convocation ceremony.
His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan was cited as “a calm voice in troubled times, a world leader, uniquely placed to bridge the cultural differences dividing the East and West.”

Honorary Degrees
Over the last 50 years, His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan has been awarded 23 honorary degrees from 11 countries – top regional universities representing the US Ivy League, Canadian Group of 13, UK’s Russell Group, and others.
