Bishkek, June 21 / Kabar /. Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Zheenbekov met today with head of the Aga Khan Development Network Representation in Kyrgyzstan Shamsh Kassim-Lakha, the Kyrgyz Government’s press service reports.
Zheenbekov thanked the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) for assistance in solving current socio-economic issues in the country and improving the living conditions of the most vulnerable populations in mountainous regions of the country.
The Prime Minister noted that the Kyrgyz side supports the expansion of the activities of the AKDN in remote areas of Kyrgyzstan, including the improvement of irrigation networks, medical and educational services, access to clean drinking water and other priority directions of development of the regions.
Shamsh Kassim-Lakha said that the Government of Kyrgyzstan has been a partner of the AKDN for 15 years.
He stressed that the main event of the Representation is the construction and opening of the University of Central Asia (UCA) in Naryn city, which will become an educational institution in Central Asia, having recognized all over the world. About $ 90 million were spent for realization of this project.
“In September of this year, our school will open its doors for the first students. I take this opportunity to invite you on 19-20 October this year to participate in the official opening of the University. Without the support of the Kyrgyz Government and local authorities it would be impossible to complete the construction of the university. I hope that this school will create the conditions for quality education,” said Kassim-Lakha.
The Prime Minister wished him success in the work of the Representation and expressed hope that the implementing joint projects will continue to contribute to the sustainable development of the Kyrgyz Republic.
