Danial Asaria won 2016 National Junior High School Chess Championship K-8 (15-17th April in Indianapolis, IN) and is now qualified to represent USA Chess team in 2016 in World Youth Chess Championship in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia.
Danial Asaria (2213 USCF): I have been very impressed with Danial’s play. So far it seems like he has been mostly crushing his opponents. In Round 5 he had quite a few chances to try to win quickly, but he was very patient and ensured that his opponent had no real counterplay first.
In the K-8 Championship we had a two way tie for first. Wesley Wang and Danial Asaria faced off in the last round, and Wesley had an extra pawn. However after some tricky defense from Asaria, Wesley couldn’t get the win and the two became co-champions with 6.5/7.
