Gojal: Scouts, girl guides hike amid heavy snow

Moiz Karim for Ismailimail – January 13, 2016: Hussaini: Wrapped in long coats, big shoes, and warm mufflers, a combined troop of Ismaili boy scouts and girls guide of Hussaini village were spotted ascending through the apparently heavy snow and murky weather, onto the hills in Gilgit-Baltistan’s Gojal valley.

All schools are off due to the severe weather conditions in the coldest mountainous region, situated in the extreme north of Pakistan.

On Sunday the Hussaini scouts group organized a hike, known as the Snow Hike, collectively for the scouts and girl guides of the village, the scout’s facebook page states. that about eighty young members participated in the snow hike, who walk through the near by hillocks and Borith village – a tourist spot.

The hike kicked off from Hussaini Jamat Khana at 09:00 and concluded at 16:00 at the same venue, reads the scout’s facebook page.

The participants were briefed about climate changes and its effects on the area’s atmosphere, said a scout leader Fazal Karim.

Such a small scale outing, get-together and other social events are often arranged by the local insinuations in the far-flung but peaceful part of the terror-hit Pakistan.
